In an interview with Aida Daguda and Dajana Cvjetkovic from the BCSDN member CPCD, CIVICUS highlights the concerning deterioration of civic space in BiH. Expressing their concern about the rapid deterioration of civic space in BiH and the introduction of two new pieces of legislation in Republika Srpska. The first bill reintroduced criminal defamation into the legal system. The second bill, under debate, aims to criminalize CSOs receiving foreign funding for political activities and allow the government to shut them down. This would further restrict civil society, as authorities already use existing mechanisms to pressure and threaten CSOs. In the past year, there has been a significant increase in inspections of CSOs, especially targeting smaller and more vocal organizations. Read more here.
