On May 17th, 2016, BCSDN organized a webinar to present “Global Standard for CSO Accountability” that is currently being developed by 9 networks worldwide. The aim of this initiative is to strengthen the effectiveness of CSOs worldwide by creating a collective accountability standard that would serve as a point of orientation for CSO accountability globally. The three goals of the project are: to improve CSO accountability codes and practice; reduce transaction costs (convergence between multiple existing codes) and contribute to a more enabling environment for CSOs.
The presentation was given by Ilina Nesik, and gathered representatives of BCSDN staff and members. The aim of the webinar was to share the latest developments in the global efforts in CSO accountability, the new project that BCSDN has recently joined and the content and structure of the “zero” draft of the Standard. The webinar served to present you this initiative and to explain the logic behind the Global Standard. We also present the steps for further development of the Zero Draft of the Global Standard for CSO Accountability and how BCSDN members can contribute to it. You can find the presentation here.
BCSDN will also use this knowledge and the zero draft for reviewing the proposed Code of Conduct for the network that is expected to be adopted in 2016.
