At Sanaklap we believe that no-one should have to live in poverty. We are dedicated to a society in which all people, irrespective of race, class or gender, enjoy the freedom to pursue their own sustainable development. We focus on increasing people’s incomes and employment opportunities in productive sectors like agriculture as well as on improving access to basic services such as health, biodiversity conservation, water governance, river development, irrigation, notations, education, energy, water, sanitation and hygiene. Sankalpa supports people to access and develop the capabilities, services and opportunities needed to live a healthy, productive and fulfilling life, while sustainably using the natural resources they depend on. Unlike many other development actors, we do not offer funding, but specialize in supporting the resourcefulness of development actors. Sankalpa is a not-for-profit rural community development organisation that applies practical know-how to make a lasting difference in the lives of people living in poverty. We use our extensive and long-term in-Darchula District to apply and adapt our top-notch expertise in Health, Education, Women Empowering, agriculture, energy and WASH to local contexts. Sankalpa has over 41 staff in more than 5 Rural Municipality in Darchula. In its new Strategic Plan period (2017 – 2021), Sankalalpa will more explicitly aim for systems change during project preparation and implementation – by strengthening institutions and kick-starting markets that help many more to escape poverty beyond our projects. We will continue to position ourselves as a premium organisation and invest in making knowledge flow to and from the frontline
