While in a global context, the European space for philanthropy may seem relatively stable, the Civil Society actors have learned over the past years that even within Europe and the European Union this cannot be taken for granted. The CSO and donor communities have to work towards defending the philanthropy space in a context of new restrictions put on the philanthropy sector, the wider civil society space, and the rule of law in an environment of raising threats to democracy and fundamental rights.
