The “Resilient Voices: Western Balkans Civil Society in a Changing World” (Tirana, Oct 1, 2025) gathered over 150 CSOs, policymakers, and donors to confront escalating pressures on civic space, including smear campaigns and potential burdensome EU foreign funding regulations. The event culminated in the publication of a Declaration, which outlines concrete steps for CSOs, governments, and the EU to secure a resilient civic future. Leveraging this Declaration, BCSDN will launch a major advocacy campaign, providing direct input for the new EU Commission CSO Strategy currently being drafted. This initiative will be supported by the forthcoming comprehensive Donor Research study, providing evidence for necessary reforms in financial support models to strengthen Western Balkans civil society resilience.
